Toys for Tots

The Distinguished Pearls Foundation and our partners collected toys for needy children throughout the state of Maryland through the U.S. Marine Corps Toys for Tots program.

Giving Tuesday

What started as a grassroots movement to spur philanthropic giving during the holiday season has grown into a powerhouse for donations.

This year, The Distinguished Pearls Foundation launched a month-long campaign around Giving Tuesday, encouraging donations from the public while highlighting the work the organization has done to serve.

Thanksgiving food giveaway

In 2021, many families were still struggling with the effects of the pandemic, and the need for food was still great.

The Distinguished Pearls Foundation and Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc., Tau Delta Zeta Chapter partnered with Uplift Church of Laurel, O-Ryderz, and to provide Thanksgiving bags of food to more than 120 families from Laurel Elementary School.

Juneteenth

Juneteenth was declared an official federal holiday in 2021, and the Distinguished Pearls Foundation was there in the City of Laurel at its first Juneteenth celebration, collecting canned goods for area food banks.

UniTEA

In our annual celebration of sisterhood and scholarship, UniTEA, Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc., Tau Delta Zeta Chapter, and the Distinguished Pearls Foundation honored four outstanding scholars.

Covid Conversations: Moving Forward

It has been more than a year since COVID-19 impacted our way of life. Despite the advances and availability of the COVID vaccine, questions remain regarding what’s next. 

The Distinguished Pearls Foundation brought together a panel of public health experts from around the state on April 21 at 7 p.m. for a candid conversation on life beyond COVID. 

Suds for School 2

This school year was not like others. Due to the Covid-19 virus, most area students had to study from home until April when schools re-opened.

In preparation for the re-opening of schools, the Distinguished Pearls Foundation will hosted a “Suds for School 2” event on Saturday, March 27, 2021. In partnership with the the Super Clean Laundromat in Laurel, MD, DPF distributed $20 laundry gift cards along with a mini swag bag with detergent pods and information about the foundation.

Christmas for Seniors

The Distinguished Pearls Foundation in partnership with Laurel City Councilman Brencis Smith spread Holiday cheer to Senior residents at Selborne House and Laurel Lakes Senior Apartments with gift cards and goodies on December 23, 2020.

Giving Thanks

The Distinguished Pearls Foundation partnered with Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc., Tau Delta Zeta Chapter and Uplift Church in Laurel, MD to share the spirit of Thanksgiving and distribute food to families in need Nov. 21, 2020.

Rock the Vote

The Distinguished Pearls Foundation partnered with Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc., Tau Delta Zeta Chapter to encourage Laurel Voters on election day, handing out snacks and water to voters waiting in line.

Suds for School

In preparation for the 2020-2021 School Year, the Distinguished Pearls Foundation will hosted a Suds for School” event on Saturday, August 29, 2020.

The foundation partnered with the Super Clean Laundromat in Laurel, MD, to distribute $20 laundry gift cards to the first 100 patrons. In addition, families received a mini swag bag with detergent pods, information about the foundation, and an inspirational message to pay the act of kindness forward.
